Huge doubts about the UAE’s “solidarity” with Saudi Arabia

The UAE regime is trying to show a “solidarity stance” with its allies in Saudi Arabia as the Kingdom is undergoing the latest attacks on oil wells in a development described as unprecedented.

UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash claimed in his Twitter account that “the correct location for every Arab country and every responsible country in the international community should be with Saudi Arabia and with the stability and security of the region.”

Tweeters responded to Gargash by expressing doubts about the UAE’s serious attitude towards Saudi Arabia, especially as Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia’s partner in the Yemen war, completely sided with the coalition’s objectives and acted in accordance with its interests and ambitions without regard to the damage of the Kingdom.

Yesterday, the British Independent newspaper described the Houthis’ targeting of an Aramco oil facility with 10 drones on Saturday as an indication of the “failure” of Saudi policy in Yemen in return for the “growing” interests of the UAE.

The newspaper cited an article by Ahmed Abu Doh, titled “The attack of the Drones, Highlights the Special Fighting by Saudi Arabia and the UAE in Yemen,” in which he pointed out that Saudi Arabia and the UAE have long reached the conviction that the war in Yemen cannot be resolved and are looking for a way out. .

He added that the alliance of Saudi Arabia and the UAE in Yemen “faces enormous problems; given the different agenda of the two countries since the start of their war in Yemen, which began under the pretext of supporting the legitimate government of Yemen in the face of Ansar Allah Houthi group.”

He continued: “While Saudi Arabia seeks through its war in Yemen to thwart Iran’s attempts to plant its Houthi militias on the southern border of the Kingdom, and control of Yemen through its arms, as it did in Lebanon through Hezbollah. Yemen and its liberation from the Houthis and al-Qaeda to be used later as a springboard to extend its strategic influence in the Horn of Africa. ”

The writer said that the course of the war in Yemen now, and attacks on the oil facilities in the Kingdom, indicate that Saudi Arabia suffered a catastrophic failure in Yemen, while the interests of the UAE grew.

He explained that the war led to the division of Yemen, “there are two Yemens, one in Sana’a controlled by the Houthis, and the second supported by the UAE in Aden, and Saudi Arabia has to deal with the arms of Iran on its northern border with Iraq, and the south with northern Yemen, which is controlled by the Houthis.

He noted that although Riyadh and Abu Dhabi realized that the war in Yemen could not be resolved in their favor, “the UAE was faster and more decisive in dealing with this fact; it initiated a partial withdrawal of its forces from some areas in Yemen, in a letter to Iran not wanting to escalate, as it avoided. Abu Dhabi blames Iran for accidents involving ships in the Gulf. ”

The writer said that the US efforts now to negotiate with the Houthis reflect the success of the Emiratis in persuading the Kingdom to reach a way to save her face and end the war that drained in Yemen.

He also pointed to the kingdom’s inability to end the control of the UAE-backed forces in southern Yemen despite undermining the authority of the legitimate government, pointing out that although the Saudis see the UAE presence in support of them in the war against the Houthis, the Emiratis do not share this view. Yemen for their own goals.

Saudi Arabia is seeking to open a dialogue with Qatar to end the Gulf crisis and the blockade of Qatar, a move that would resent Abu Dhabi, the writer said.
