Yemeni campaign against UAE on Twitter
Thousands of Yemenis reacted in an unprecedented campaign of anger on social media sites, especially Twitter in the last hours directed against the United Arab Emirates and its crimes against Yemenis.
The campaign carried the hashtag “#اليمن_يدعس_بن_زايد” (Yemen insults bin Zayed) and included the publication of pictures of Yemeni citizens trampling the images of the rulers of the UAE, especially Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Mohammed bin Zayed.
The launch of the highly reactive campaign came days after UAE rebels seized government buildings in Yemen’s interim capital in a declared coup against the legitimate government.
The popular campaign to support the escalation of demands in Yemen to stop the UAE’s participation in the Saudi coalition following the recent coup of Abu Dhabi militias against the legitimate government in Aden.
Members of the Yemeni parliament called on President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi to dispense the UAE’s participation in the war in Yemen.
Nine of Yemen’s most prominent deputies, in a joint statement, blamed Saudi Arabia for the events in Aden as the leader of the Arab coalition, stressing the need for Hadi and his deputy to assume their constitutional and sovereign responsibilities in the face of what is happening in Aden.
The nine deputies called on the President of the Republic “to use his powers to dispense with the UAE from its participation in the Arab coalition forces and the exit of its forces from all the territory of the Republic of Yemen.”
Yemeni Information Minister Muammar al-Iryani said that “any approval of the coup of the transitional council in Aden, drops the legitimacy of confronting the Houthi coup in Sanaa, as well as the justifications for the intervention of the Arab coalition.”
He added that “the statement of the Transitional Council confirms the continuation of the coup scenario and ignoring the efforts made by Saudi Arabia to contain the situation in Aden and the return of normalcy, and even seek to control the rest of the southern provinces in the service of the Iranian agenda.”
He asserted that the government “will carry out its constitutional and legal duty in the face of any attempt to prejudice the state.”
“As we have confronted the Iranian Houthi militia, we will face any armed formations outside the framework of the military and security establishment, and we warn of its future repercussions.”
