With the complicity of the ruling regime, drugs have become a trend in UAE schools
An Emirati activist revealed that drugs have turned into a phenomenon in the United Arab Emirates schools, with the blatant complicity of the ruling regime.
Activist Ibrahim Al Haram asked, “Does the authority in the Emirates exercise a policy of marginalizing generations by drowning them with drugs and sex?”
Al-Haram pointed out that the Emirati regime imitates resorting to drugs, as Israel does with the Palestinians, as was the case of the Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Libyan leader’s regime Muammar Gaddafi.
The UAE system spreads corruption and decay, and one of the evidence for this is the record high in drug addiction the country has recorded.
But what is dangerous in the file is the high index of female drug and alcohol addiction recorded by the UAE.
An official at the International Protection Center of the General Administration for Drug Control in the UAE said an increase in the number of women addicted to drugs.
Colonel Abdullah Al-Khayyat, director of the centre, admitted this in statements to local media.
Al-Khayyat said, “There has been an increase in the number of female addicts recently due to the great change in life in recent years in terms of openness.”
He added that many cases had been reported of girls travelling with their friends outside the country without supervision or with one of the mature parents.
The rapid spread of the Internet provided a kind of confusion in society through the spread of drug selling via the Internet.
Added to this is the spread of 3D printers that may enable drugs to be manufactured at home from certain materials.
Abdullah Al-Ansari, Director of the Department of Community Research, Awareness, and Public Relations at the Erada Center for Treatment and Rehabilitation in Dubai referred to the case of a girl who was addicted to alcohol, who reported that she was getting alcoholic substances from the Internet, and that the box reached her home.
Shocking numbers
The statistics of the Federal Customs Authority and the local customs departments in the UAE revealed that the number of drug seizures at border crossings has increased, during the past five years (2105-2019), to more than 15,764 seizures.
The customs sector’s contribution to increasing drug seizures increased from 33% in 2018 to 39% in 2019.
According to the authority’s statistical database, the number of drugs seized by the country’s customs sector increased in 2019 alone.
The National Rehabilitation Center in the Emirates revealed that the rate of addiction to drugs, psychotropic substances, and alcohol within the country between the ages of 20 and 29 was 52.8%. The capital of Abu Dhabi topped the rest of the country.
