A human rights organization has called for a complete cessation of arms deals to the UAE, due to its involvement in war crimes in many countries.

The Arab Organization for Human Rights in the UK urged the new US administration to permanently cancel the arms deal concluded on January 2021 at the end of the term of former President Donald Trump.

The organization said that such a deal supports the Emirati regime and encourages it to commit more crimes in the region.

It stated that many countries in the region had witnessed humanitarian disasters in recent years due to the use of weapons imported by the UAE from the United States and other countries.

The organization confirmed that the new US administration headed by Joe Biden is now responsible for all the adverse effects that will result from the implementation of that disastrous deal.

That would compound the victims’ suffering and create new tragedies, especially with the absence of guarantees of the UAE’s commitment not to use weapons in violation of the law and international covenants.

Previous events indicated that the UAE did not respect any law in its war with opponents to achieve its agendas.

Last hour deal

The organization stated that the aforementioned deal was signed during the last hours of Trump’s term.

The Emirati Embassy in Washington announced that the $23 billion deal was concluded Tuesday, January 19.

The deal included 50 F-35s, worth $ 10.4 billion, and 18 M-Q-9B drones, worth $2.97 billion, in addition to various ammunition and other military equipment, worth 10 billion dollars.

Proven criminal record

The organization highlighted that the UAE has a long record of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity.

During the last decade, it has been working to destabilize the Arab region and threaten its security. It becomes a sign of its brutality and bloody in every country, especially in Yemen and Libya.

The UAE has launched indiscriminate attacks in these countries that have resulted in civilian casualties, and it is also supporting unruly militias and mercenaries that commit serious crimes.

The organization emphasized that the true cost of this deal and others is borne by the innocent and defenceless in Yemen and Libya, and they pay the price for it with their blood and the stability of their countries.

The UAE seeks to acquire these countries’ capabilities in terms of oil, ports and other resources.
