UAE pays one of its mercenaries to lead political scene in Libya

For years, the UAE regime has been pushing one of its mercenaries in Iraq, Aref al-Nayef, to lead the political scene in the country and succeed the war criminal, retired general Khalifa Haftr.

The continuing failure of the military operation launched by Hafer has been a wake-up call for its allies. Abu Dhabi, in particular, has spent billions to change the Libyan situation to serve its interests and ambitions.

It appears that the supporters did not expect the Hafttar failure in Tripoli. This because of the military crowds that he gathered, most of them composed of mercenaries, with the unlimited support he receives from the UAE, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and France.

This led to urgent action on two levels. The first was a political push by the United Arab Emirates, Aref al-Nayed, the controversial Libyan politician and the political and media analyst, to nominate himself to head a government representing the Tobruk parliament.

The Libyan channel “February” said on Friday (July 20) that al-Nayed announced that it is ready to form a government if Parliament asked him to do so.

The second level of action came at the military level. The Supreme Council of the State of Libya revealed intelligence information that Egypt, France and the UAE were involved in more involvement with Haftar forces.

The Council said in a statement issued on Friday (July 19) that it holds those countries responsible for the resulting destruction and loss and intimidation of the security.

The Council called upon the United Nations Mission in Libya, the Security Council and all international parties to take a strong and decisive position on the intervention of those States and the consequent victims, damage and violation of Libyan sovereignty.

“The UAE is preparing to form a government headed by the former Libyan ambassador to the UAE, Aref al-Nayed,” Libya’s foreign affairs spokesman Ashraf al-Shah said on Wednesday (July 10).

He pointed out that “the rulers of Abu Dhabi do not want to appear in the picture; so they commissioned the Egyptians to take over the subject.” He pointed out that there is “complicity in persuading Khalifa Hafter to form this government and to show it as political leadership and that it follows a civilian leadership.”

According to al-Shah, this step requires “giving an opportunity to the international envoy, Ghassan Salameh, to propose a political initiative to form a government, and to suggest that Khalifa Hafer follows a civilian leadership and to start a new negotiation with the government of national accord through this government.”

He explained that “the purpose of this process is to return a new political path that can avoid the tragedies of the aggression on the capital, and want to show a new political interface to start a new negotiating process to enable them to get what they can not get from the military attack.”

Observers say that the UAE is concerned about its interests in Libya, after it was confirmed that it lost the battle of Tripoli. It paid huge sums to support Haftar, and gave him all the necessary logistical and military, along with Saudi Arabia and Egypt with French support.

After the UAE realized the military failure, the UAE had no choice but to resort to the alternative plan of political action through a plan that would require the formation of a government of national unity headed by Aref al-Nayed.

For this reason, al-Nayed was given the opportunity to walk around in the eastern regions and communicate with its tribes in order to gain acceptance. He was unlimitly support from the UAE and Saudi-funded media represented in Al-Arabiah and Sky News.

Those who know at home know that the paper is burned because of its positions that serve the outside and do not take sides with the interests of the Libyans. “Nayef, when he was an ambassador in the UAE, helped capture the Libyans who supported the February 17 revolution.

Nayid tried to exploit the Sufism paper, exploiting the popularity of the Sufi currents in Libya. But the Supreme Council of Sufism issued a statement in which he was acquitted. In addition, his hometown, Urfala, issued a statement against him.

In addition, Al-Nayiad used a language in a recent talk against the people of Tripoli, saying that we will enter Tripoli and spread the true religion, as if those in Tripoli were infidels. The use of a speech in dealing with the Libyans confirms that Haftar and his parents do not differ much from the methodology And his brutality.

Several media reports have spoken in recent days about disagreements between Cairo and Abu Dhabi because of it desire to cut off the services of Haftar and to use Aref al-Nadid in the next stage.

Recently, the UAE has announced a reduction in its forces from Yemen, while observers say it seeks to focus at this stage on the Libyan file, through to turn the battle in the country to the political side, exploiting the United Nations and its special envoy to market its agenda.
