The Emirati regime continued to escalate its conspiracies against Socotra, which is strategically located in Yemen, amid widespread public condemnation in Yemen and an affirmation of condemnation of Abu Dhabi’s endeavor to perpetuate the occupation of the island and plunder its capabilities and wealth.

Sources in the Yemeni government confirmed that Emirati-backed gunmen took control of the leadership of the 1st Marine Corps, and looted weapons and ammunition depots in light of the silence of the coalition and the Saudi forces present in Socotra.

According to the sources, Aidros Al-Zubaidi, the head of the so-called Southern Transitional Council, appointed one of the most prominent loyalists of the Emirates to lead the brigade, called Abdullah Ahmed Kanzhar, and had previously defected to the third battalion on the island.

The sources warned of an Emirati plot to invade the military town of Hadibu, the administrative center of Socotra, and to control government institutions and the only port.

For his part, Mukhtar al-Rahbi (adviser to the Minister of Information) – in a tweet on his account on Twitter – accused Brigadier Nasser Qais (Acting Commander of the brigade’s first marine infantry in Socotra) of treachery, confirming that he had handed over the brigade’s weapons in the province to what he called the militias of the UAE-backed transitional council.

Al Rahbi indicated that the handover process came under direct directions from the Emirates representative in Socotra, Brigadier Khalfan Al Mazrouei, according to what was reported by the Anatolia News Agency.

And that these developments take place in light of the presence of a thousand Saudi soldiers in Socotra, without announcing any position to support legitimacy and local authority after the first brigade marines stormed the forces of the Transitional Council.

Socotra witnesses, from time to time, attempts to control vital facilities implemented by gunmen backed by the Emirates, in addition to rebellions of battalions in government forces and join forces with the Southern Transitional Council, which demands the secession of southern Yemen from the north.

Socotra is the largest of the archipelago of the same name, consisting of six islands, and occupies a strategic location in the Indian Ocean, off the coast of the Horn of Africa, near the Gulf of Aden.

Yemeni tweeters launched a campaign on Twitter to condemn the UAE conspiracy against the island to spread chaos, sabotage and perpetuate its occupation.

For his part, journalist Anis Mansour, head of the Hana Aden Center for Studies, revealed the arrival of an Emirati ship off the coast of Socotra with tanks, armored vehicles, ammunition and soldiers that Abu Dhabi wants to enter and occupy the island militarily after years of intelligence work under the banner of the humanitarian work of the Khalifa Foundation.

The tweeters warned of an Emirati plot to invade Hadiboh and take control of government institutions and the port, after controlling the leadership of the 1st Marine Brigade, calling on security men to strike with an iron fist and confront the mercenaries of the UAE, which seeks to spread chaos on the island.
