Emirates Leaks: The UAE presses to prevent a Saudi-Egyptian rapprochement with Turkey

Sources revealed to Emirates Leaks that the Emirati regime exerts huge pressure to prevent a Saudi-Egyptian rapprochement with Turkey.

The sources stated that the emerging rapprochement attempts between Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Turkey face obstruction attempts by the UAE.

They explained that Abu Dhabi does not welcome Egypt’s move on rapprochement with Turkey and believes that more pressure on Ankara will accept conditions primarily related to its support for the political Islam trend Arab region in general.

In addition to other files, the UAE believes it is necessary to reach the lowest Turkish presence, such as the Syrian crisis and removing Ankara from its presence in the Yemeni crisis and the Iraqi lands.

The sources indicated that Abu Dhabi had failed to disrupt Turkey’s Saudi orientation and reached initial understandings.

Therefore, it was and still is, betting heavily on delaying that step on Egypt to force Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to respond to the Emirati demands.

The sources said that recent Egyptian-Emirati contacts dealt with what is going on regarding the recent Egyptian-Turkish communication and the calls from Ankara to accelerate the pace of calm between the two sides.

These are the communications in which Cairo moved entirely away from Abu Dhabi, in light of the differences between the two sides for several months.

The sources revealed that Abu Dhabi requested a delay in the Egyptian-Turkish rapprochement and more time to arrange it.

The sources added that “Abu Dhabi wants to catch up with the recent Egyptian and Saudi understandings with Turkey.”

But the sources confirmed that “there are apathy and hesitation on the part of Turkish officials in exchanging the UAE with the same desire or orientation, at least for the time being.”

And they stressed that “if there is a common interest for Cairo and Abu Dhabi, without any harm to the Egyptian interests, the Egyptian leadership will not delay in taking them into account.”

Egypt recently conveyed intermediate messages to Abu Dhabi, explaining its keenness to continue the distinguished relations between the two sides. Still, at the same time, it demanded that it respect Egyptian interests.

The sources emphasized that “the two parties – Turkey and the UAE – have their main problem with timing and local conditions at present, and perhaps each party will try to pressure the other to reach the largest amount of gains.”

The sources warned that Cairo’s accounts at present are what has been implemented and expressed to the Turkish side, and the latter announced his response to it.

They indicated that all parties have realized, during the past years, that when interests converge, everyone will communicate.

However, Turkish reservations are about responding to the Emirati intentions at present, especially since Ankara accuses Abu Dhabi of being behind the attempted military coup against Erdogan in 2015, and this matter is central to Turkey, from the sources’ point of view.
