Unprecedented crisis in relations between the UAE and Egypt

Sources revealed an escalating unprecedented crisis in relations between the UAE and Egypt, due to the discrepancy in several regional files.

The sources agreed that the Egyptian-Emirati relations had become at their weakest stage due to the decline of Abu Dhabi’s support for the Egyptian regime.

The sources monitored a decline in Abu Dhabi’s financial support for Cairo and other issues. The UAE decided to move according to its interests without considering the Egyptian interests.

A major crisis erupted between the UAE and Egypt after Abu Dhabi departments accused Cairo of possessing intelligence information regarding the targeting of the Abu Dhabi embassies in both Ethiopia and Khartoum, without informing Emirati officials about it, to deal with the situation.

A senior Emirati official confronted General Intelligence’s head, Major General Abbas Kamel, with this information, who denied that Cairo had any information about it.

It is believed that Cairo may have already obtained information about the targeting of the UAE embassies in Ethiopia and Sudan.

The recent Egyptian intelligence activity in the Horn of Africa resulted from many variables, on top of which is the issue of the Renaissance Dam crisis.

If it is true that Egypt obtained information of this kind and did not communicate it to Abu Dhabi, then the reason may be the state of Egyptian anger towards the UAE.

Given Abu Dhabi’s role in supporting Ethiopia in the face of Egyptian moves to pressure Addis Ababa to force it to reach a binding agreement on the Renaissance Dam.

Cairo has information about a major military, logistical and intelligence support that Abu Dhabi has provided to Addis Ababa during the last period.

Cairo obtained information about the UAE’s recent supply of high-quality weapons to Ethiopia. It also provided it with information on Arab moves that Egypt relied upon regarding the Renaissance Dam crisis.

This was a shock to Egyptian political leadership, which was reflected in Egypt and the UAE’s relations.

Cairo is moving completely away from the Emirati position after a long alliance and joint coordination in the file.
