Leading Emirati dissident Ahmed Al-Shaybah Al-Nuaimi complained of a series of punishment actions imposed by the Abu Dhabi ruling regime against his family, such as the abuse and repression of political activists and prisoners of conscience of their families.

Al-Shaybah wrote on his Twitter account that sanctions against his mother, brothers, sisters, and sons included travel bans and jobs, the arbitrary transfer of jobs, and the cutting of pension.

The Emirati society is living in a state of fear and terror over the escalation of violations by the security authorities against activists and human rights activists against the backdrop of freedom of opinion and expression, and the secrecy of the fate of dozens of political detainees in state prisons for years.

According to human rights organizations, the number of political detainees in Emirati prisons amounted to 106, including two women (Amina Al-Abdouli and Maryam Al-Balushi).

Americans for Democracy and Human Rights in Bahrain, American human rights organization, attacked the ruling regime in the United Arab Emirates for his crimes and violations of human rights and endeavor to spread chaos and destruction in many Arab and European countries.

The organization described in a report published on its website, the UAE as “a despotic police state, where the laws of censorship of the media and spying on citizens are widespread.”

The organization said that the ambiguity of its laws allows rulers to justify their crushing of dissidents and silence the voice of government critics. Impunity has become a norm in the Emirates, due to the policy of exemption from accountability at the highest levels of government.
