Orchid Syria Association for orphans care revealed that the UAE is involved in human organ trading. The organization said that it has communications with international bodies and aims to conduct a comprehensive investigation in this regard.
The organization stated that last year 36 children from Syrian camps were transferred to the UAE by the Emirates Red Crescent through an orphan sponsorship program after they were subjected to comprehensive medical examinations, including blood type and tissues.
“We are holding communications with media, human rights, and international bodies to find out the fate of the children. It is possible that these children have been victims of human organs trade,” the organization said.
The organization added that it will publish documents proving the involvement of the Autonomous Administration run by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and its complicity in the operations of kidnapping children from the camps and selling them to the Emirates Red Crescent organization under the cover of orphan sponsorship program claiming that these children are provided with luxurious life with Emirati families.
Human rights activists have often expressed their fears of the UAE involvement, along with its criminal arms in Yemen, Libya, and other countries in stealing human organs and selling them.
Human rights activists accuse UAE rulers of human organs trafficking, especially in Libya.
Fears increased after the UAE announced in February 2018 the establishment of a bank of human organs in Dubai which aims to promote “medical tourism in the country” and to attract new investors.
In the UAE, international centers specialized in organ transplantation were established in addition to a national bank for organs. There are currently four health facilities licensed in the UAE for organs: Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital, Mediclinic City Hospital, and Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital.
