A stab in the back. That what the disgraceful normalization agreement between the UAE and Israel was considered, the agreement that was met with wide-scale Palestinian and Arab condemnation.

Prominent Palestinian official, member of the Executive Committee of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, Hanan Ashrawi, commented on the UAE’s declaration of normalization with Israel, in a fiery response that she published on Twitter.

Ashrawi mocked the Emirati justification that normalizing relations with Israel “will stop any additional Israeli annexation of Palestinian lands.”

“The UAE secret dealings/normalization with Israel came out to public,” she wrote. “Please do not do us any favor.”

“I hope you never suffer from your country being stolen, never feel the pain of living under occupation, never witness the demolition of your home or the killing of your loved ones, and never be sold out by your ‘friends’,” Ashrawi said in retweet of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed’s tweet, in which he announced the step of normalization.

For its part, the spokesman of Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) announced his movement’s rejection of the Israeli-Emirati agreement, considering it a “dangerous development.”

“The US-Israeli-Emirati agreement is dangerous, and constitutes a reward for the Israeli occupation for its crimes and violations against the Palestinian people,” he said.

He added that all forms of normalization with the Israeli occupation are condemned, and a stab in the back of the Palestinian cause.

The Islamic Jihad movement also affirmed that the agreement is a blow to Palestinian rights.

US President Donald Trump announced what he described as a “historic peace agreement” between Israel and the UAE, including a normalization of relations.

Trump described the agreement on Twitter as a “HUGE breakthrough.”

The American disclosure of the public and official normalization of relations between the two countries came to put an end to previous speculations about the existence of relations between Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv.

“HUGE breakthrough today! Historic Peace Agreement between our two GREAT friends, Israel and the United Arab Emirates!” The US President said in a tweet.

The tweet was followed by a joint US, Israeli, and Emirati statement that revealed the signing of an agreement in Washington to direct bilateral relations between Israel and the UAE.

The statement was signed after joint talks with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, the de facto ruler of the UAE, Mohammed bin Zayed, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and US President Donald Trump.

Mohammed bin Zayed wrote on his Twitter account: “In my phone call today with the US President Trump and the Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, it has been agreed to stop Israel’s annexation of the Palestinian territories. The UAE and Israel have also agreed to lay down a roadmap towards launching joint cooperation, leading to bilateral relations.
