Research Center: The UAE is in crisis ahead of the World Cup in Qatar

The Emirates Center for Studies and Media (EMASEC) said that the UAE is in crisis before the start of the World Cup in Qatar.

The centre stated that the UAE lost gains expected to reap from Qatar hosting the World Cup after the authorities promised that large numbers of fans would come to its lands to stay in it.

According to identical sources, the UAE authorities said that a large group of fans who booked their stays in Dubai to attend the World Cup in Qatar changed their reservations to stay in Doha.

Until recently, Emirati newspapers claimed that UAE hotels attract World Cup fans.

Months ago, the Emirati newspaper, Al-Ru’ya, said that hotels in the Emirates began receiving reservation requests from fans of the World Cup in Qatar, which will start during the period from November 20 to December 18 next. However, the expectations of the Emirati newspapers were going in the way of high rates of hotel reservations in The state.

Previous Arab and foreign reports revealed the UAE’s involvement in incitement campaigns against Qatar – especially during the years of the blockade of Qatar and the Gulf crisis – without Abu Dhabi responding to these accusations.

The European Microscope for Middle East issues revealed that the UAE financed systematic incitement campaigns against the World Cup in Qatar.

Al-Maqhar said that human rights organizations and members of fan club associations in several European countries, including Germany and France, were monitored actively calling for a boycott of the World Cup after receiving secret sums of money from the UAE.

Tweeters close to the security authorities in Abu Dhabi launched a major attack on Qatar, in conjunction with a major smear campaign launched by European and Western countries against it, due to several issues, including “homosexuality”, in addition to accusing it of mistreatment of workers during the preparation for the World Cup.

He said that these parties are trying to launch campaigns among the fans of European clubs that enjoy a popular following in Europe in order to promote campaigns to boycott the World Cup at the instigation of the Emirates.

He added that the European Football Association and the local federations, especially in the five major leagues, are aware of such politicized activities and are considering taking new measures to curb the politicization of sports through political disputes.

This is in line with what was revealed by the African Journalists Union of a new scandal for the UAE regarding its incitement of press unions to boycott the World Cup tournament scheduled in Qatar next year.

In a statement obtained by Emirates Leaks, the Union of African Journalists condemned the UAE’s intervention and contact with African press unions to boycott the World Cup in Qatar and incite against Doha.

And last week, the tweeter close to Abu Dhabi’s decision-makers, “Hamad Al Mazrouei,” wrote on his Twitter account: “15 days separate us from confusion and inexperience.”

Later, Al Mazrouei tweeted again on his account, “I think Qatar is not ready to host the 2022 World Cup.”

Al-Mazrouei aroused the ridicule and anger of many tweeters, including some Emiratis who support the World Cup in Qatar and strengthen the Gulf position.
