The UAE funds a Saudi journalist to stir up strife in the Gulf states

Over the past few weeks, the Saudi journalist Abdulaziz Al-Khamis has emerged as the scene of trying to rekindle strife in the Gulf states and attempting to undermine Gulf reconciliation.

Al-Khamis tweets on her personal Twitter account a considerable amount of criticism and explicit incitement against Qatar daily.

However, Al-Khamis drew strong attention with his statement during his participation in the Arab Media Forum, which was held recently in the Emirates, that “the Al-Ula agreement (regarding the declaration of Gulf reconciliation) will not continue.” I think after the World Cup, relations with Qatar will not continue as it is, there will be no rupture, but there is coldness and estrangement towards Doha.”

Thursday’s trends contradict the recent intense rapprochement between Qatar and Saudi Arabia, which was evident during Doha’s hosting of the 2022 World Cup and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s attendance at the tournament’s opening match.

Observers highlight that the United Arab Emirates stands behind Al-Khamis and the campaign of open incitement that he is practising to undermine Gulf reconciliation, especially since it never began to welcome the strengthening of the Gulf position and seriously end the differences.

Al-Khamis presents himself as a journalist and researcher on Middle East affairs, but he has been carrying out the dirtiest intelligence and prevocational tasks for many years.

He had previously admitted in a media interview on the program (Fi Al-Sameem), on (Rotana Gulf) channel that he is working as a spy on Saudi dissidents abroad and distorting the image of Saudi and Gulf activists by government orders.

Al-Khamis is known for his very hostile positions on the Arab Spring revolutions and the right of the Arab people to democracy and public freedoms. He openly opposes any democratic transfer of power in the Arab countries, especially his country, Saudi Arabia.

He has also repeatedly publicized his call to transform the Kingdom into a civil and secular state, to abolish “loyalty and disavowal” from its school curricula, and to eliminate any presence of religion in public life.

In addition to his public support for normalization with Israel, his call for an Arab alliance with Israel, and his disregard for Palestinian and Arab rights.

Over recent months, Abdulaziz Al-Khamis used himself to incite against the State of Qatar and spread poisons of sedition in the path of Gulf reconciliation.

Observers highlighted that Al-Khamis, who is known for his provocative stances, does not like the atmosphere of welcome and cohesion between the Qataris and the Saudis.

Therefore, Al-Khamees resorted, in his tweets and media materials, to sow discord in the path of the Qatari-Saudi rapprochement and incitement against Doha, including deliberately intimidating and amplifying the accusations against him amid the corruption crisis within the European Parliament.
