Tolerance in UAE a Cover for Violations

345

The alleged year of tolerance ends in the UAE, and with it the facts show that it was only a slogan used as a cover for grave violations from the beginning to the end.

The launch of the alleged Year of Tolerance formed a cover only for more violations and targeting of citizens. Tolerance was neither for Emiratis nor residents but rather as part of a public relations campaign headed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and based on it plans to erase the image of bad human rights in the country

In the year of tolerance, the UAE contracted with public relations companies worth millions of dollars to provide advice to respond to the continuous accusations of the UAE of violating human rights, which indicates the failure of this propaganda campaign that remained on the front pages of newspapers and the first headlines of news bulletins, and thousands of events that talk about tolerance in a country the security services have lost the sense of humanity, the meaning of values and tolerant ethics.

And the promotion of the ruling regime in the Emirates for the year of tolerance in the Emirates is nothing but a big lie with a lot of propaganda without an actual reality.

The UAE government announced a “national tolerance initiative” a few days ago, under the country’s slogans to cover up its violations. However, the tolerance initiative did not include the release of prisoners of conscience or the end of the state’s criminal war on Yemen.

Activists affirm that tolerance in the UAE is a kind of public relations to improve reputation only, while dozens of evidence and facts prove falsehood in the Emirates, including:

Prisoner of conscience Alia Abdel Nour died in May 4 years after being unjustly arrested.

Prominent human rights activists such as Ahmed Mansoor.

Academics were arrested because of their positions, such as Nasser bin Ghaith.

Detention of lawyers for standing against injustice, such as Mohammed Al-Roken.

Mass arrests of those demanding reform and democracy in the country.

Detainees held in “counseling” centers despite the end of their sentences.

Imposing a police system in the country based on surveillance and espionage.

The state security apparatus is the de facto ruler in the Emirates without judicial independence.

The file of human rights at home is not only heavy and bad, but also many external files. The state received during the year of tolerance accusations of torture and secret prisons in Yemen, the bombing of civilians in Libya, and accusations of supporting repression and brutality in Egypt. All of them are bad files and a stigma on the country’s forehead, which will be difficult to erase by announcing a new public address with the same implications.

Tolerance is part of justice, much of humanity, most ethics, the path of the powerful, not the weak, and the Emirati society is tolerant, generous, compassionate, and strong. Otherwise, these nationalities live among them without discrimination, targeting, or violent anger, despite all the problems caused by the demographic problem of citizenship.

The problem with the security apparatus, which has changed justice, attacked state institutions, targeted the rights of citizens, swallowed the will of institutions, and controlled its decision.

And a year after a year, the security apparatus did not learn from mistakes and did not fix the breakdowns and gaps. By the end of the “year of tolerance,” the security apparatus affirms that it is dragging the state toward police and bad reputation. All public relations campaigns that it finances from Emirati funds will remain in vain and cannot cover the sun of rights and freedoms With a sieve.

Instead of all this, the sheikhs of the state, the institutions of the authority, and its leadership should expel political prisoners (the free emirates of the Emirates) and review foreign policy, it is difficult for the country to go towards the future while it holds all these heavy files.
