The UAE received the new government’s ministers in Yemen with explosions upon their arrival at Aden airport.

Yemeni groups said that militias affiliated with the UAE planted the explosions at the interim Yemeni capital airport, Aden.

The hashtag #الامارات_تستقبل_الحكومة_بالباروت (UAE receives the government with fire) spread on social media in Yemen, condemning Abu Dhabi’s crimes.

Previous Undermining of the Government

Local officials stated that the UAE only wanted some ministers and rejected some, so it sent an aggressive message to the government.

The officials said that control in Aden is in the hands of the separatist transitional council, which is backed by the UAE, which is responsible for everything.

The three explosions at the airport happened after a plane carrying members of the new government landed on the airport runway.

A government source, who preferred not to be anonymous, said that three explosions took place at Aden Airport, one of which is likely inside senior guests’ reception hall.

This coincided with the landing of the plane of the new members of the government on the tarmac.

The source explained that the explosions occurred before the members of the government got off the plane.

Yemeni sources reported deaths and injuries in a series of bombings, after targeting Aden airport with mortars and Katyusha rockets.

Aggressive Interference

Over the years, the UAE has devoted its aggressive intervention in Yemen, contrary to the objectives of the Arab coalition aimed at supporting the legitimate government.

And this is in light of Abu Dhabi’s endeavour to serve its conspiracies and agendas.

The UAE supports and sponsors the separatists in southern Yemen, represented by the so-called Southern Transitional Council.

It is an entity established in May 2017 and constitutes a challenge to the legitimate, internationally recognized government in Yemen.

The Transitional Council strengthened its influence in several governorates in Yemen with the direct support and supervision of the Emirates, which was in charge of the city of Aden’s political and military administration, most of the southern provinces and the western coast of Yemen.

The Emirati support included establishing and arming military and security forces in the Transitional Council areas.

And providing political support for the council inside Yemen, and marketing it and the disengagement project abroad.

And recently, Yemeni Foreign Minister Muhammad Abdullah Al-Hadrami called on the UAE to clarify its country’s goals.

Al-Hadrami said, “The UAE must clarify its goals in Yemen, and not conflict with the goals of the Saudi coalition.”

He stressed that prolonging the war in Yemen will negatively affect the region, given Yemen’s strategic geographic location.
