Israel strengthens its military presence in the Emirates by deploying early warning systems

Emirati and Israeli sources revealed that Israel had reinforced its military presence in the Emirates by deploying early warning systems, claiming to secure its depth in the face of Iranian missiles and drones.

Emirati sources told Emirates Leaks that Abu Dhabi agreed to an urgent request from Israel to deploy additional military reinforcements related to early warning systems.

The sources indicated that the decision was issued by the Office of the President of the State, Mohammed bin Zayed, in coordination with National Security Adviser Tahnoun bin Zayed, in response to an Israeli request that was submitted secretly four weeks ago.

For its part, the Hebrew newspaper Jerusalem Post confirmed the completion of Israel’s deployment of early warning systems in the UAE in light of the recent escalation of threats between Tel Aviv and Iran.

The newspaper stated that this development is of great importance to Israel to help it secure its depth in the face of missiles and possible marches launched from Iran towards Israeli territory.

She explained that the talk is about radars and air defence systems as part of a “regional defence network” that Israel is trying to launch in the region, starting with the UAE, the only country that has agreed to Israeli requests in this regard.

According to the newspaper, Israel is currently in talks with its allies in the region who participated in the “Negev Summit,” namely: the UAE, Bahrain, Morocco and Egypt, to discuss opportunities to form a “joint alliance.”

Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz said a few days ago that Israel is developing a comprehensive plan in cooperation with the US Department of Defense to enhance cooperation with countries in the region under the auspices of the Central Command of the US Army.

Gantz expressed his hope that efforts to advance this plan would continue, particularly during US President John Biden’s visit to Israel and Saudi Arabia in the middle of this month.

The radars deployed in the UAE will be in addition to other radar systems revealed by the Israeli Channel 12, which were published in the Gulf state at the end of last month.

After a short visit by Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett to Abu Dhabi on June 29, the Hebrew channel also revealed that the Israeli army had deployed another radar system in several countries in the Middle East, including the UAE and Bahrain.

It pointed out that this comes within a vision of cooperation in confronting Iran’s missile threats and creating an early warning system.

Wall Street Journal recently reported that American lawmakers from the Democratic and Republican parties submitted a bill to Congress stipulating that the US Department of Defense work with Tel Aviv and several Arab countries to integrate air defences to thwart what it described as Iranian threats.

Observers believe that Mohammed bin Zayed is gambling by bringing the UAE into a regional conflict with uncalculated repercussions in light of his escalatory steps in alliance with Israel and granting it a sizeable military presence in the country.

Tehran has previously warned the countries of the region against giving the Israelis a foothold on its soil and said it would target any country that allows an Israeli military presence on its soil.
