UAE quickly turns against Berlin Conference on Libya

127

The UAE quickly turned against the Berlin Conference on Libya by supplying militia war criminal Khalifa Haftar with new arms shipments.

Signatories to the final statement of the Berlin Conference on the Libyan Crisis, held last Sunday, were strict and full commitment to respect and implement the arms embargo resolution imposed by Libya, imposed by the United Nations Security Council under Resolution No. 1970 of 2011, and subsequent resolutions on non-proliferation in Libya, and called on all international parties to take the same measures.

But the UAE, as usual, did not respect its obligations, by sending large arms shipments across the Egyptian border to the Haftar militia with the aim of providing a large batch of new joiners, who were expelled from the city of Tarhuna under the name of “Jihad Brigades”.

Egyptian sources pointed out that there is reliance by Haftar’s allies on measures recently acquired on the ground to adjust the rudder of conditions on the battlefield, in favor of Haftar, to enable him to establish his presence in the fighting axes around the capital, Tripoli, in the event that Turkey provided military forces.

The sources revealed that during the Berlin Conference, Cairo and Abu Dhabi sought to pass a resolution related to imposing an air embargo over Libya, to prevent Ankara from transferring weapons or military aid to the government of reconciliation, in light of the refusal of neighboring countries bordering the Libyan West represented in Tunisia and Algeria to use their land borders to enter forces or aid from the Turkish government for the Government of the National Accord, at a time when Haftar will have a military advantage on the ground, as Cairo and Abu Dhabi are supplying military aid across the Egyptian land borders.

The sources pointed to an Egyptian-Eamirti plan, sponsored by European parties, to boast the Turkish presence in the region, by restricting it in the African spheres of influence, by opening a new front in the Red Sea, through the Union of Beaches bordering the Red Sea, as Ankara seeks to expand its influence in that region by establishing military bases, to secure its economic presence there.

According to the sources, Abu Dhabi and through political allies and political pressure groups that are financing it, want to play a role in curbing Turkish influence in Tunisia, through the state institutions in which these groups are located, particularly the parliament, in addition to putting pressure on the Tunisian president that prompted him to declare “balanced” positions. According to the sources regarding the crisis, the most prominent of them is the decision to prevent the use of Tunisian territory in the operations of Turkish forces to Libya.

The sources noted that a plan discussed during the Berlin Conference to send international forces to monitor the truce, cease-fire and the separation of forces of the Government of National Accord and militias in eastern Libya was foiled.

Earlier this month, the Turkish parliament had approved the mandate of Erdogan’s request to send Turkish troops to Libya.

Later, Turkey announced that these forces had already begun to flow there. While he stated that about “2500 fighters of the Russian company Wagner mercenaries in Libya, in addition to the presence of about 5 thousand mercenaries from Sudan, and others from Chad and Niger.”

Many questions were raised about the goal of the Berlin conference that was held to find a solution to the Libyan crisis and bring peace to Libya, which is what we find the answer to in the memorial image itself, which details, in its details, the idea of its convening and the goal behind its outputs.

It emerged from the conference’s outputs that the important thing is not to find a consensus between the positions of the two Libyan parties to the conflict who were absent from the work of the conference, and the moment when its memorial photo was taken, but rather to create an understanding between the positions of the regional states supporting the parties to the conflict. As if the Berlin Conference came to formalize Libya, Libya has become a stage for a major geopolitical conflict, in which the interests of major countries, particularly Russia, Europe and Turkey, overlap, while Arab countries play the role of “local entrepreneurs” to implement the interests and strategies of major countries.

As for the Berlin conference’s call to stop foreign interference in the Libyan crisis, and to stop supplying the Libyans with weapons, this is a call in which there is a lot of hypocrisy and fallacy, because the largest interferers in the Libyan affairs, and the largest suppliers of arms, militias and mercenaries to Libya, are themselves the largest present at the Conference! How righteous to call themselves to refrain from something they themselves are buying?!.

If the conference participants were serious in their endeavor to achieve peace for the Libyan people and bring stability to Libya, the conference would have ended, instead of calling for a halt to foreign interference, to issue a decision and a pledge from those present to stop their interference in the Libyan affairs, and leave the Libyans to themselves, and whoever has the ability to Help them reunite them instead of separating them, and stoke the fire of discord between them.

For years, Libya has been going from war to war, from the war of siblings to foreign interventions and agency wars, and will end with international intervention that often ends in civil war, ruin and destruction, as happened in Afghanistan, and happens in Iraq, Syria and Yemen.

The Berlin Conference, as the memorial participants ’picture reduces to it, was not held for the eyes of the Libyans, or for the sake of uniting their ranks, but rather for the sake of uniting the position of the Europeans, and reconciling them with the Russians on the one hand and between them and the Turks on the one hand, and the most absent from its equation are the Arabs. As for the victims, they are the Libyan people, who plunge their children into brutal wars, they are merely firewood. As for its abscess and its spoils, it goes to those who wage it by proxy in their capitals, far from their tragedies, sorrows, flames, and foremost among them the Emirates.
