Poverty and unemployment complaints are escalating in UAE

409

Complaints are increasing in the rates of poverty and unemployment in the UAE, which reflects a complex crisis, amid neglect of the Emirati system, which devotes the wealth and capabilities of the state to personal interests and exploits it in wars and external interference.

The UAE citizen faces many challenges and obstacles, perhaps the most prominent of which is the high percentage of foreigners, the increase in the unemployment rate, and the high rate of unemployment, amid temporary and complex solutions proposed by the government sector, while the private sector is sufficient to employ foreigners.

The majority of Emiratis fear publicly speaking about this suffering because of the repressive system used by the security services of the state, but many have broken the silence because of their failure to get jobs and their feeling of want in their country where foreigners enjoy twice as much as the Emirati citizen.

Not only did citizens complain, in a recent statement of Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, the ruler of Sharjah, it showed that there are only 10,000 families in the emirate that are suffering from poverty.

Al-Qasimi said, “There are 10 thousand families, he puts them on his shoulder, and their debts have become zero, and rents have also been covered, but where do they get the livelihood?”

He went on to ask: “If Sharjah alone has 10,000 and Sharjah is considered an average emirate, then what about the northern and eastern Emirates?

For his part, citizen businessman Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor demanded that the government, in a video posted on its website, “Twitter”, issue a decision to form specialized committees to study the conditions of all Emiratis.

Al Habtoor said, “It is not permissible to have Emiratis in need in our country, the UAE, the Land of Good,” calling on the President of the State and his deputy, Ruler of Dubai, to issue a decision to form specialized committees that study the conditions of all Emiratis, even Bidun, to be assisted and taken care of their affairs by the state.

Al Habtoor said, “Thousands of messages arrive daily on his accounts on the communication sites and on his private office, complaining of unemployment and poverty, expressing his deep regret at hearing such complaints from citizens saying: the relatives are well known.”

The rulers of the Emirates also demanded to follow the example of the caliph and the great companions Omar bin Al-Khattab, as he was touching the concerns of citizens and inspecting their conditions.

Estimates confirm that the unemployment rate in the Emirates exceeds 24%, especially in the age groups between (20 to 39 years) in light of the continuous economic deterioration.
